Why guests pick this side of the footbridge
Kazimierz is where most visitors want to spend the evening, and almost nobody sleeps well there on a Friday. Bars around Plac Nowy run until the early hours and the noise carries into the courtyards. Podgorze is the same walk from those bars in one direction and a completely different soundscape in the other.
The route matters as much as the distance. From the door you reach the Father Bernatek Footbridge in five minutes and cross into Kazimierz in five more, all of it along the water, none of it along a main road. Coming back at midnight, the bridge is lit and busy, it is a normal city route, not a shortcut through anywhere.
Podgorze also carries the other half of the story most visitors come for. The Ghetto Heroes Square, the Eagle Pharmacy museum and Schindler's Factory are all on this side, within a 20-minute walk of the flat, so the Jewish heritage route starts at your door rather than ending across the river.
You get the whole apartment, bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, not a room in a shared flat.

How long does it really take to walk to Kazimierz?
Ten to twelve minutes to Plac Nowy, using the Father Bernatek Footbridge. The whole route runs along the river and across the bridge, with no major road to cross.
Is it safe to walk back across the bridge at night?
Yes. The footbridge is lit, overlooked by flats on both banks and used at all hours, including by people heading home from Kazimierz. Most guests walk back rather than take a taxi.
Can I see Schindler's Factory and the Ghetto sites without transport?
Both are on the Podgorze side, so you can do the whole route on foot from the flat: Ghetto Heroes Square and the Eagle Pharmacy in ten minutes, Schindler's Factory in twenty. Book factory tickets ahead, same-day entry is often sold out.
Is there anywhere to eat nearby, or do we have to cross the river?
There are three places within a hundred metres of the door, including a sushi bar and a pizzeria, plus a milk bar for a cheap lunch. For a wider choice, Kazimierz is the ten-minute walk described above.
