Three travel patterns

Out in the morning, back at night. Distance barely matters. You walk in once, spend the day in the centre, walk or ride back after dinner. Twenty-five minutes each way costs you fifty minutes a day, on a route you would enjoy anyway.

Back for an afternoon break. Common with small children or in July heat. Here distance doubles: four walks a day instead of two. A tram stop at the door and a fifteen-minute ride make this workable, which is what saves this location.

Working from the flat between meetings. Then you want the flat itself to be good rather than close: separate rooms, a table, fast internet, a kitchen. That is a different set of criteria from proximity, and the two rarely come cheap together.

Will we get tired of walking 25 minutes each way?

Most guests do it once or twice a day and treat it as part of the visit, because the route runs along the river and through Kazimierz. With small children the tram is the easier option.

Is the tram reliable enough to depend on?

Yes, every few minutes during the day, until about eleven at night. Night buses run after that.

Are there shops nearby for daily needs?

A grocery shop is a hundred metres away and there are three places to eat at the same distance.

Is it quiet enough to work from the flat?

Yes. The windows face an internal courtyard and the bedroom is a separate room from the living room, where the table is.

What if we want to be closer for one night?

Then a hotel inside the Planty ring makes sense. For anything longer, this trade tends to work out better.
