Krakow stays
A 48-hour plan that holds together
Morning one: the Old Town. Wawel first, before the queues, then Kanonicza and Grodzka up to the Main Square. Two hours of walking, one exhibition, lunch off the Square.
Afternoon one: Kazimierz. Synagogues, Plac Nowy, the small streets between Jozefa and Meiselsa. Dinner there, then back over the footbridge.
Day two: the memorial route and the view. Ghetto Heroes Square, the Eagle Pharmacy, Schindler's Factory with a booked ticket, then Krakus Mound in the late afternoon for the whole city from above. All on the Podgorze side, all walkable from the flat.
Basing yourself between Kazimierz and Podgorze puts day one on one side of the river and day two on the other, with a ten-minute bridge in between.

Can I fit Auschwitz into a two-day trip?
Only by giving up most of the city. It takes a full day including travel.
Which area suits this plan best?
Anywhere between Kazimierz and Podgorze. Both days start within a fifteen-minute walk.
How early should I start?
Wawel and the Main Square are calm before nine and busy from eleven. Starting early buys you an hour without crowds.
What if I arrive in the evening?
Walk the boulevards and see the castle lit from the far bank. Check-in here works at any hour.
Is two days enough to eat well?
Yes, if you eat in Kazimierz rather than on the Square. Milk bars cover cheap lunches on both sides of the river.
